Lehmann&Voss&Co. Develop New HBCD-Free Flame-retardant Solution for XPS Panels

LUVOBATCH PS FR 0339, the new polymer-based flame retardant, is the ideal solution for producing flame-retardant XPS panels without using HBCD. “Thanks to good, comprehensive stabilisation, we have succeeded in reducing the degradation of the flame-retardant system, and in this way minimized any discoloration,” said Ms. Marion Henkens, the responsible flame retardant developer, in describing the new product.

Comprehensive tests at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) in Pfinztal demonstrated outstanding compatibility of LUVOBATCH PS FR 0339 with standard XPS components and as a result flawless processing as XPS panels with high quality requirements. “The influence of the flame-retardant batch on the properties of the finished foam is very slight,” explained Dr Anne Ramlow, head of master batch development at Lehmann&Voss&Co. in Hamburg and added, “In particular, the value for heat conductivity of the XPS panel, important for insulation applications, remained practically unchanged when using LUVOBATCH PS FR 0339.”
